Hon. Mr. Justice Kenneth Mulife

 

PROFILE

Hon. Mr. Justice Kenneth Mulife is a Judge of the Constitutional Court, having been appointed to the Constitutional Court on 3rd April, 2023. Justice Mulife holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He was admitted to the bar in 2006.

Prior to his current appointment, Justice Mulife served as a Judge of the High Court, having been appointed to the Court on 7th March, 2019. He  served in various capacities in the Judiciary, such as the Chief Resident Magistrate at the Lusaka Subordinate Court from 2016 to 2019; Principal Resident Magistrate at Mansa and Lusaka Subordinate Courts from 2012 to 2016; Senior Resident Magistrate at Mansa Subordinate Court in 2012; and Resident Magistrate Kitwe and Lusaka Subordinate Court from 2006 to 2012.

Justice Mulife joined the Judiciary from the Department of Immigration in the Ministry of Home Affairs as Immigration Officer  from 1999 to 2006 and Assistant Immigration Officer from 1993 to 1999. He- has also served as a part time lecturer at the Copperbelt University, Copperstone University, University of Lusaka and the National Institute of Public Administration.

During his tenure as Chief Resident Magistrate at the Lusaka Subordinate Court, Justice Mulife served as a member of the Judicial Service Commission and The Advisory Committees on Training and Continuing Education, The Advisory Committee on Court Operations and The Advisory Committee on Court Annexed Mediation and Delay Reduction. He also served as Chairperson of the Child Justice Forum from 2015 to 2016.

In 2015, whilst serving as Principal Resident Magistrate at the Lusaka Subordinate Court, Justice Mulife was engaged by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare and the United Nations International Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) as a Consultant, to generate the National Diversion Legal Framework.
