LAUNCH OF MEDIA LEGAL HANDBOOK: EMPOWERING JOURNALISTS ON INFORMED AND TRANSPARENT COURT REPORTING

Lusaka 5th October 2023 – The Judiciary in collaboration with the Southern African Institute for Policy and Research (SAIPAR), this morning launched the Legal Media Handbook, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka. The handbook, a groundbreaking resource, is designed to empower journalists and media professionals in their essential role of information dissemination to the public.

Launching the Handbook on behalf of the Hon. Chief Justice, Chairperson of His Lordship’s Advisory Committee on Public Relations and Information, Justice Palan Mulonda highlighted the recalibration of the trajectory taken by the Judiciary to demystify the institution and make it more accessible to the public. He stated that the development and subsequent launch of the Handbook are testament to the Judiciary’s unwavering commitment to fostering an open and transparent institution, ensuring a judicial system that is accessible, and understood by all.

The Handbook which focuses on several thematic areas, among them: demystifying the Judiciary; empowering journalists; ensuring fair and responsible reporting; and promoting judicial transparency can be accessed online on the Judiciary of Zambia website.
