Hon. Mr. Justice Mathew Likuba Zulu is a Judge of the High Court. He was appointed to the High Court on 12th May, 2016. Justice Zulu holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia. He was admitted to the bar in 2005.
Prior to his current appointment, Justice Zulu served as the Registrar of the High Court and Director of Court Operations in the Judiciary. Justice Zulu served in various positions in the Judiciary since he first joined as Magistrate Class II in 2003. He served as a Resident Magistrate in 2005, Senior Resident Magistrate from 2005 to 2007, Principal Resident Magistrate from 2007 to 2008, Chief Resident Magistrate from 2008 to 2010 and Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court from 2010 to 2014.
Justice Zulu was Attached to the United Nations Criminal Tribunal on Rwanda, based in Arusha, Tanzania from 2005 to 2006. He also served on the Project Management Team of the Zambia Justice Information System, a project to computerise the Zambian Judiciary as Deputy Director and Director from 2008 to 2010 and 2010 to 2014, respectively. Justice Zulu served as Coordinator for Southern African Chief Justices Forum (SACJF), a Forum of Chief Justices from 16 Countries drawn from the Southern and Eastern Regions of Africa from 2010 to 2014.
Justice Zulu served as Tribunal Secretary of the Sylvia Masebo Tribunal, Mutembo Nchito Tribunal and as Deputy Tribunal Secretary of the Tribunal of Justice Katanekwa and Justice Sunkutu. During the time he served as Registrar of the High Court, Justice Zulu also served as Secretary to the Judicial Service Commission and Council of Law Reporting, a statutory body established under Chapter 46 of the Laws of Zambia.
He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
