Hon. Mrs. Justice Roydah Mwanakulya Chinungi Kaoma is a Judge of the Supreme Court. She was appointed to the Supreme Court on 18th June, 2014. Justice Kaoma holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws degree from the University of London. She was admitted to the bar in 1990.
Prior to her current appointment, Justice Kaoma served as a Judge of the High Court from 2002 to 2012. Justice Kaoma joined the Judiciary in 1991 as a Resident Magistrate and rose through the ranks until she was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court. She served as Judge-in-Charge at the Kitwe High Court from 2008 to 2012 and acted as a Judge of the Supreme Court from 2012 to 2014. Justice Kaoma also served as Deputy Registrar at the Ndola High Court from 2000 to 2002, Principal Resident Magistrate at Ndola Subordinate Court from 1996 to 2000, Senior Resident Magistrate at Ndola Subordinate Court from 1994 to 1996 and Acting Senior Resident Magistrate and District Registrar of the Kitwe High Court from 1992 to 1994.
Justice Kaoma is the Chairperson of the Zambia Law Development Commission.
Justice Kaoma is a Court-Annexed Mediator, a member of the Zambia Association of Women Judges (ZAWJ), Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association and the International Association of Women Judges. She is the immediate past President of ZAWJ.
