Hon. Mrs. Justice Ruth Hachitapika Chibbabbuka is a Judge of the High Court at the Judiciary in Zambia. She was appointed to the High Court on 7th March, 2019. Justice Chibbabbuka is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zambia, a Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Mineral Resource Development from the University of Zambia, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education and is currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Law degree with the University of Lusaka. She was admitted to the bar in 2000.
Prior to her current appointment, Justice Ruth Chibbabbuka served as a Senior Research Advocate in the Judiciary from 2013 to 2019. From 2009 to 2013, Justice Chibbabbuka served in various positions at Barclays Bank Zambia these include Conformance Manager from 2010 to 2011, Legal Counsel from 2009 to 2010 and Manager, Centralized Securities from 2007 to 2009. Justice Chibbabbuka served as Assistant Legal Counsel at Finance Bank from 2003 to 2006 and Assistant Advocate at Shamwana and Company from 1998 to 2003.
Justice Chibbabbuka is currently serving as the Chairperson for the Zambia Law Development Commission as well as a member of the Committee on Performance Management in the Judiciary. She is also a member of the Zambia Association of Women Judges and the Magistrates and Judges Association of Zambia.
