PROFILE
Hon. Mr. Justice Derrick Mulenga is a Judge-in-Charge of the High Court, Industrial Relations Division having been appointed in 2018. He was appointed to the High Court on 8th December, 2015. Justice Mulenga holds a Diploma in Magistracy, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from Maastricht School of Management in South Africa. He was admitted to the Bar in 2000.
Prior to his current appointment, Justice Mulenga was Managing Partner at Derrick Mulenga & Company, a position he held since 2005. Justice Mulenga also served as partner at Makungu and Co. and as an Associate in the same law firm in 2004 and 2001 respectively. He also served in the Judiciary at the as Magistrate Class III from 1991 to 1993 and Magistrate Class II from 1993 to 1997 and Magistrate class I from 1997 to 2000 and was later elevated to the position of Resident Magistrate in 2000. He was appointed Commissioner of Small Claims Court in 2013
Justice Mulenga has past and present membership to a number of boards and professional bodies including: Being Chairperson for Magistrates and Judges Association of Zambia-Copperbelt Province from 1995 to 1996, Secretary General (National) Magistrates and Judges Association of Zambia from 1997 to 2000, Council Member of the Law Association of Zambia from 2002 to 2005 and Chairman of Provincial Audit Committee (North-Western Province) in 2005.
