Hon. Mr. Justice Japhet Zulu is a Judge of the High Court, appointed to the Bench on 27th May 2027. Prior to his appointment, he served as Managing Partner at Japhet Zulu Advocates from February 2020.
Justice Zulu holds a Master of Laws Degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of Lusaka and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Zambia. He also holds a Certificate in Courtroom Techniques and Trial Advocacy obtained from the International Law Institute. He was admitted to the Bar on 17th December 2010.
Justice Zulu began his legal career at MAK Partners Legal Practitioners, serving as an Associate from 2010 to September 2011. He joined the Legal Aid Board in September 2011 and rose through the ranks, from Assistant Senior Legal Counsel from 2013 to 2014 to Senior Legal Aid Counsel from 2014 to 2020. During his tenure, he was Counsel-in-Charge and Station Manager for Northern and Muchinga Provinces, later expanding his jurisdiction to oversee Central Province from 2017 to 2020.
Justice Zulu also contributed to academic training as a part-time Lecturer in Commercial Law at Kwame Nkrumah University from 2018 to 2019.
