HON. MR. JUSTICE KALIFANO TIZA MUNSANJE MANYEPA

PROFILE

 

Hon. Mr. Justice Kalifano Tiza Munsanje Manyepa is a Judge of the High Court General Division, appointed on 27th May 2026. Prior to his appointment to the Bench, he served as Chief Resident Magistrate and District Registrar at the Livingstone Subordinate Court from 2024.

Justice Manyepa holds a Master of Laws Degree in Commercial Law, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Zambian Open University, and a Diploma in Law from the University of Zambia. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) and was admitted to the Bar on 14th March 2014. His other professional credentials include a Graduate Level Certificate in Legal Drafting and Analysis from DLA Piper LLP in conjunction with the University of Zambia, as well as specialised certifications in Prosecuting Environmental Crimes and Anti-Money Laundering from the International Law Enforcement Academy in Gaborone, Botswana, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Global Learning Programme. He has also completed professional workshops, including commercial mediation training conducted by the Pepperdine Sudreau Global Justice Institute and election management workshops on electoral dispute resolution supported by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES).

Earlier in his judicial career, Justice Manyepa served as Senior Resident Magistrate in Mongu from 2018 to 2021 before being appointed Principal Resident Magistrate and District Registrar at the same station, a position he held from 2021 to 2024. Prior to that, he was Resident Magistrate in Mufulira from 2014 to 2018, where he served as Magistrate-in-Charge of the district.

He was appointed as Magistrate Class III at the Mbala Subordinate Court from 2013 to 2014, after serving as a Registry Clerk at the Chisamba Subordinate Court from 2008 to 2013.

In August 2021, he was appointed by the Chief Justice as Chairperson of the Local Government Elections Tribunal. Justice Manyepa also served as Chairperson of the Magistrates and Judges Association of Zambia (MAJAZ) for Western Province from 2020 to 2023.
