Hon. Lady Justice Sombo Chinyama-Kachaka was appointed Judge of the High Court Family and Children’s Division on 27th May 2026.
Justice Chinyama-Kachaka holds a Master of Laws Degree in Criminal Litigation from the University of Lusaka and a Bachelor OF Laws Degree from the University of Zambia. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) and a Post Graduate Diploma in General Law from the University of Zambia.
Justice Kachaka was admitted to the Bar on 14th March 2014. She joined the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) as a State Advocate in September 2014, rising through the ranks to Senior State Advocate. She acted as Principal State Advocate from 2021 to 2022 and was later appointed Deputy Chief State Advocate in May 2022, a position she held until January 2025.
Earlier in her career, she was attached to the Ministry of Justice in the Office of the Administrator General as a Learner Legal Practitioner from 2011 to 2012. She also gained administrative experience as a Secretary to the Assistant Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Transport from 1997 to 1999, and as a Secretary at Messrs Sondashi and Company.
